Music
What is the vision for Music?
At Minworth Junior and Infant School, our music curriculum aims to provide all pupils with a high quality music education, which engages and inspires children to develop a life-long love of music. In turn, this will increase their self-confidence, creativity and imagination, and provide opportunities for self-expression. Children participate in a wide range of activities to develop their talents in all aspects of music including singing, instrumental skills, composition and appreciation.
How do we ensure it?
All children are provided with an active music curriculum where involvement in listening, performing and composing are essential skills that they will learn. Through music, children are given the opportunity to realise their individual creative potential and to express themselves freely.
Our curriculum helps to extend and develop pupils’ awareness and understanding of traditions and music styles from a variety of cultures, times and places, which contribute to learning across the curriculum. We ensure music plays an important role in helping children to feel part of a community. Projects and collaborations are organised which enable children to share their musical skills at events both within school, but also the wider community.
